University of Utah Carolyn Tanner Irish Humanities Building

1 of 1

One of the most beautiful academic spaces on campus, this new 50,000 sq. ft. is a dynamic hub of departments, programs and centers. It houses the department of Philosophy and History, the Tanner Humanities Center, as well as many of the College of Humanities International programs (including International Studies Latin American Studies and the Asia Center). The Buildings design induces lively collaboration and discussion among faculty, students and community members, while still allowing space for contemplative distance, In addition, two state-of-the-art lecture halls, the building is also home to several seminar rooms, conference and group study rooms. For more reflective moments, faculty, students and visitors can relax in reading rooms, secluded courtyards, or the Lorna Matheson Memorial Garden, have coffee at Tony Caputo’s Happy Hour Cafe’, or meditate while walking the outdoor labyrinth.
