Engineering Team Owen & Associates is now Envision Engineering, PC
Owen & Associates, a Utah based consulting electrical engineering and lighting design firm with projects throughout the Intermountain Region, formally changed its name to Envision Engineering, PC, to better reflect the culture and capabilities of its team.

Firm President, Mr. Jeffrey R. Owen, PE, LC, LEED® AP, is elated to see the branding change come to fruition. “We’ve experienced planned but phenomenal growth, resulting proportionately in an increase in both the complexity and size of our projects. We’ve been careful to keep our principals grounded, but the firm simply isn’t just about me anymore. We feel “Envision” better reflects the culture, vision and team approach of our firm – along with our capabilities.” Owen also sites the addition of a new Partner, Mr. David P. Whitton, PE, LC, LEED® AP, as part of his decision to change to the Envision brand.

After earning his MBA and Professional Engineering licensure, Mr. Owen left another prominent Salt Lake City engineering firm as Principal – with a dream of increased service and standards for his clients. He founded Owen & Associates in 1994 and remained a “one man shop”, growing slowly and methodically to accommodate his client’s needs. Since 1998, his team has earned the Salt Lake City Department of Airport’s Facilities On-Call Electrical Engineering Contract and has designed the electrical systems for most major projects at the Salt Lake City International Airport since that time (including the terminal expansions and the Landside Reconfiguration Projects now under construction). Envision’s team now designs electrical and lighting systems for a vast variety of project types from high-end commercial and retail projects to religious centers, prominent laboratory facilities, medical office buildings, municipal projects, facilities for K-12 and higher education, street and site lighting projects, industrial / warehouse buildings, parks and recreational spaces, eating and nightclub establishments and many others.

The early years of the new century, after the 2002 games construction work was complete, was a slow and dreadful period for the Intermountain Region’s construction design economy as a whole. With the support of loyal clients and numerous local architects, Owen & Associates mulled through the slump successfully and rebounded quickly in 2003. Since March 2003 alone, the firm has grown measurably and continually to a staff of some 23 team-members – a 255% growth in personnel. Annual revenue has increased some 240% from 2002 to 2008. And, the firm has created a unique and service-minded approach to their industry with the creation of an experienced, in-house Construction Administration Team – enabling Envision to truly service their projects from inception through construction.
