Ben Lomond High School Athletic Center

Ogden School District | Ogden, Utah

The award-winning $28.2 million, 104,000 SF Ben Lomond Athletic Center represents an important facility for both the high school and Ogden community. As a renovation and new addition project, Envision worked seamlessly as an important member of the design team to provide full-service electrical engineering design services. The new tilt-up concrete building includes a 1,500-seat main gymnasium, 500-seat auxiliary gym, 300-seat indoor practice facility, a 1/6th mile running track, and golf simulator.

Envision’s innovative design effort met the high energy efficiency goals for the project—to be as close to a net-zero energy building as possible—a significant challenge for a facility of this size and nature. Working as an integral part of the design team, Envision’s design included a 370kW rooftop ballasted photovoltaic array to boost energy supply to the building. The overall results have produced a remarkable design that offsets 97% of the facility’s total energy demand.
