Desert Peak High School
Tooele County School District | Tooele, Utah
Desert Peak High School, a new $84 million, 336,020 SF high school campus, represents a highly collaborative project to achieve the most recent, cutting-edge standards for K-12 school design. Envision worked to support the school district and architectural design team's goals to create a school and learning environment to maximize use and flexibility, technology, safety, and energy efficiency.
To successfully address site-specific restrictions and existing conditions, Envision engineered a 1/4-mile power line to connect the school site, which included close coordination with Rocky Mountain Power and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Envision's electrical design also included pre-engineering for photovoltaic panels to accommodate future solar panels, if desired. The building is technologically advanced, with a robust wireless framework to support extensive Internet and classroom video usage. Envision also designed state-of-the-art school security systems. Additional services included acoustical design for the school’s auditorium, gymnasium, commons/dining area, and the choir, band, Little Theater, and performing arts practice rooms.
Envision provided innovative lighting design, which includes energy-efficient LED lighting throughout to enhance learning in classroom spaces, decorative lighting in common areas, and specialized theatrical lighting. The stunning exterior lighting design accentuates the school exterior and integrates with Desert Peak's branding, and has become a community landmark.
